It just doesn’t get any better than an evening spent stretched out on a picnic blanket taking in great music in the warm summer air. Well—actually, it does. When you place that exact scenario in the middle of the world-renowned Ladew Gardens, you’ve pretty much found a recipe for summer time bliss. We love Ladew Gardens’ summer concert series, Groovin’ in the Grass, every year, but this year’s line-up sparkles with even greater variety—everything from classic hits you’ll be singing along with to Latin beats that may just have you up and dancing in the grass. The concert series kicks off June 15th with The Crawdaddies. These perennial favorites kick off the season with their upbeat Cajun/Zydeco blend that makes for an absolutely perfect Father’s Day celebration. We’ll be first in line the following week for Pyscho Killers—a Talking Heads tribute band that promises to take us on a musical journey through the expansive catalog of one of the most unique bands in rock and roll history.
And next month kicks off with a Fourth of July celebration like you’ve never seen. Ladew will round out the weekend with a dynamic 30-piece steel drum orchestra bringing the music of Trinidad and Tobago straight to Harford County. And if all that isn’t enough to whet your musical appetite, be sure to check out the full line up; you’ll find the Delta Blues, Mambo, and plenty of rock for those who love the classics. And of course, no matter who’s playing, you’ll be taking it all in from the gorgeous Ladew Gardens, under a Maryland summer sky. For all concerts, tickets are available at the door, and admission includes visiting the gardens, so be sure to come early for a stroll. Picnics, blankets, and chairs are welcome, with food and refreshments available for purchase as well.
Groovin’ in the Grass, Ladew Gardens’ summer concert series, begins Sunday, June 15th. Concerts are from 6pm-8pm weekly throughout the season. For more information and to view the complete schedule, visit www.ladewgardens.com.
