Here’s our new favorite idea for a weekend cocktail: pirate lore, local craft beer, and the kids. Yup. That’s Sunday Funday at Heavy Seas Alehouse, where the joys and romance of piracy aren’t just for adults anymore. Of course, the pirate rum (and other libations) remain for those over 21. But bring the kids along and they’ll spend an adventure filled afternoon with the Urban Pirates, making pirate themed crafts, going on a scavenger hunt to win some special pirate booty, and even enjoying story time (a favorite activity of Black Beard’s, we’re sure).Unlike real pirates, the folks at the helm of this operation are donating some of their booty to a good cause. Five dollars from every ticket will be donated to the DBFA or Charter School of your choice. How about that for a dastardly deed. There are ticket options for those who want drinks and those who don’t—and all tickets (including those for kids) include a meal and non-alcoholic beverages (never drink and hoist sail, you know). While it may not be your typical Sunday afternoon activity, we’re giving it points for Arrrrr-iginality.
Sunday Funday takes place this Sunday, February 23rd at1300 Bank St in Baltimore. The event goes from 11am until 3pm. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.heavyseasalehouse.com.
