On Saturday, Ismaaiyl Brinsley shot his ex-girlfriend in Baltimore County, then headed north with the intention of killing police officers. (He later shot and killed two.) The Baltimore County Police Department was able to trace Brinsley’s cell phone to see that he was in Brooklyn, so they knew they had to get in touch with the NYPD ASAP.

Baltimore County Police have arrested three men who they suspect might be the ones behind the stabbing and robbery of a Towson University student and the assault and robbery of a Goucher College student — as well as a dozen other robberies in the Towson area.

Plenty of parents have strong feelings about the Common Core curriculum. Not many would go so far as to get arrested because of it — but that’s exactly what happened to Robert Small. The father of a Baltimore County student got so worked up at a public forum night in Towson that he was yanked out of the meeting, arrested, and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer — and offense with a maximum punishment of ten years in prison.

I guess I’m just the bearer of upsetting news today. Brace yourself, because this is a sad one:  Last month, 26 year-old Robert Saylor (who has Down syndrome) went to watch Zero Dark Thirty with a health aid at a movie theater in Frederick. After the movie ended, Saylor refused to leave the theater — he loved the film so much he wanted to see it again, according to his mom. The movie theater called the cops; the cops wrestled Saylor to the floor, where he suffered “a medical emergency.” This week, the Baltimore County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide by asphyxiation.
