Okay, okay. So yesterday we let fly with our unabashed endorsement of checking out the Grand Prix. And we’re not here to back-peddle. But it takes all kinds, as they say. So today we do officially swing 180 degrees, to endorse the anti-Grand Prix: free outdoor yoga at the Cylburn Arboretum. And the best thing about it? It’s happening this Saturday, August 31st. Meaning that it’s a place you can absolutely, 100% count on to be quiet, serene, welcoming, and traffic-free this weekend.
Even without the contrast of this week’s racing event, yoga at the Arboretum should be enticing. Those who already practice yoga are familiar with its benefits to physical and emotional wellness. How many other practices can make you that strong, flexible, and calm in just an hour or so a day? And if you’ve never been to the Cylburn Arboretum, consider this the perfect excuse. Most folks visit the arboretum when out-of-town guests come to visit, or when the Arboretum hosts a special event. But having an excuse to spend a little time in one of Baltimore’s most beautiful spots, relaxing and enjoying this perfect end-of-summer weather, without a thought to the commotion and speed happening just a scant couple of miles away, could possibly be the best way to fully appreciate the Arboretum—an uber-oasis right in our own backyard.
Yoga at the Arboretum takes place this Saturday, August 31 from 8:30-9:30am on the lawn adjacent to Vollmer Center. For more information, visit www.cylburn.org.
