We all love it when two good things get together. And in this case, those two things are The Charm City Kitty Club (you know, “Baltimore’s Premier Queer Variety Show”) and the Baltimore Theatre Project (Baltimore’s “Fringe Festival all year round”). We’re so glad that the Kitties have found a new home (and in a new neighborhood, too) and that the Theatre Project is continuing their tradition of presenting the kind of unique, off-beat, and rather avant work that gives our city its character. Which is why we’ll be first in line this weekend for the Kitty Club’s House Warming Show—complete with Kitty Cocktails in the lobby.
January 24th and 25th, the Theatre Project will be open at 7pm for you to come get your cabaret vibes on with Kitty Cocktails and plenty of hob-nobbing. Then, at 8pm, it’s time for Home Sweet Homo! The kitties say they’ll be “dancing naked in our bedrooms to the sounds of local cuties, Silence Kid.” If it sounds a little out-there, well, yes, it is. But all are welcome, and pretty much guaranteed a good time. For more refined tastes, there will be “the intellectual depth of Acro-performance by the Dandy Vagabonds” as well as aerialist performance by Velocity Solace. The night also promises a short film, and so much more. As with many of the city’s cultural offerings, you’ve probably never seen anything quite like this before—but that’s all the more reason to make sure that you do.
Home Sweet Homo! plays January 24 & 25 at the Baltimore Theatre Project at 45 W. Preston Street in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.theatreproject.org.
