In the end, last night’s game against the New York Yankees was a blow out, with the Orioles winning 11-3. But even that couldn’t erase the memory of this incredible, error-ridden play (from the one of the best defensive teams in baseball) that handed the Yankees two runs and the lead in the second inning:
Note how Orioles third baseman Manny Machado manages to bounce the ball off Carlos Beltran’s helmet as he attempts to throw him out at home. Also, O’s manager Buck Showalter earned his salary with that stone-faced non-reaction.
Fortunately, the Orioles would go on to score 10 unanswered runs.
