A group of foundations are providing $3 million for summer programs in Baltimore. They’re calling it the Baltimore Summer Funding Collaborative. On Tuesday, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation announced their piece.

Weinberg is providing $770,000 in grants for 29 Baltimore nonprofits. The funded organizations range from arts (Access Art, Art with a Heart), education (Digital Harbor Foundation, Liberty Elementary, Living Classrooms), sports (Soccer Without Borders, Baltimore SquashWise), as well as schools and nonprofits that cast a wider net.

It’s the second year for the Summer Funding Collaborative, which was formed in the wake of the unrest that followed Freddie Gray’s death. The overall funding has doubled from $1.5 million last year.
