The Orioles made their offer to Chris Davis. Now it’s Jimmy’s Famous Seafood’s turn to entice the slugger.
Jimmy’s Famous Seafood is offering Davis free crab cakes for life. The Dundalk restaurant sought to get in touch with Davis directly via Twitter, and the whole world saw the offer in the process.
Dear @CrushD19,
Please come back to the @Orioles. If you do, free #crabcakes for life. And ur kids. And their kids. pic.twitter.com/XHLr8Swa35

The nation is also seeking for a window into Davis’ negotiations with the Orioles. But given that involves clams instead of crab cakes, it’s been a little foggier. Since the O’s reportedly offered Davis a seven-year, $150 million deal, reports have conflicted. ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that the Orioles withdrew the offer. CBS Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, on the other hand, said the Orioles upped the offer. MASN’s Roch Kubatko offered a little more insight, reporting that the deal hasn’t been withdrawn, but could be at anytime if the O’s make another deal.
There’s talk that Davis could get as much as $200 million, so clearly something else was needed to close the gap.
