According to Jeremy at Duck Pie, the White Flint Mall in North Bethesda was a pretty big deal when it opened in 1977. But the owner announced in 2011 that the โ€œpure glamorโ€ shopping center would be demolished and replaced by a โ€œtown.โ€ One by one, stores and attractions closed, with the last holdouts โ€” Lord & Taylor, Dave & Busterโ€™s, P.F. Changโ€™s, and one or two others โ€” refusing to concede defeat.

So Duck Pieโ€™s recent photos from White Flintโ€™s food court do not show decaying, neglected ruins โ€” but rather the uncanny image of a clean, tidy mall utterly lacking in things to buy or people to buy them.
