The birthplace of Johns Hopkins is in the news once again. This time, a fire broke out at the Gambrills property.
According to CBS Baltimore, the home known as Whites Hall caught fire early Saturday. Authorities said the blaze started on the back porch of the vacant property, and caused minimal damage.
The fire may not have done much damage, but serves as a reminder that the property where the founder of the cityโs famed hospital and university (yes, there was only one) was born could use some work. Earlier this year, demolition was proposed. But Preservation Maryland eventually entered a partnership to attempt to find a buyer for the property. It sits on a 13-acre estate, should anyone be in the market for a big project with the payoff of some historic bonafides.
