In the college football world, recruits formalize their choice of schools known on National Signing Day, which was Wednesday. Even though players can commit before they have to sign on the dotted line, there are always a few surprises as teams make a last push to convince players in the closing days. The Terps were among those who got left.
Sought-after running back Cordarrian Richardson seemed to be a lock to report to College Park. Beyond holding a big Decision-style announcement with announcement about “taking his talents,” he made a video in which he committed to Maryland…from space. (He got a crucial assist from a weather balloon.)

But it turns out that Richardson was having second thoughts. On Thursday, the place where his official letter arrived ended up being the University of Central Florida. So remember, it’s what happens on Earth that counts.
