Maybe you knew that Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, is one of Baltimoreโ€™s sister cities, but did you know just how similar they are? They โ€œhave approximately the same geographical and population size.

โ€œThese two cities have in common a deep maritime history, large port operations in estuarine waters, and both are home to prestigious universities, medical schools, world-class museums and other cultural institutions, and burgeoning tech/startup scenes.โ€

So says the Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee, and hey, wow, thatโ€™s a thing that exists, promoting friendship between citizens of both cities. Tonight, members of the committee, along with members of the Netherlands Embassy in Washington D.C. and the groups D.C. Dutch, the Netherland-America Foundation and others will convene at Little Havana for a happy hour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of D.C. Dutch.

Letโ€™s show โ€™em some good olโ€™ Baltimore hospitality. Guests are encouraged to wear orange, the color of the Dutch Royal Family, and hey, also the color of the Orioles.

6:30-8:30 p.m., Little Havana, 1325 Key Highway, invite link, free admission.
