It’s a good weekend to see some music, whether it’s a cappella, dancing with the neighbors, a Sunday afternoon jazz set or checking out a touring band. Here’s the lineup:
Friday, March 1
Earth Flex: Hampden ’80s Rendezvous: 6-10 p.m. at Earth Treks. The Hampden bouldering spot hosts a throwback night with games, vendors and free beer.
Boh Re Mi: A Cappella on the Avenue: 7 p.m. at The Ideal Arts Space. The group heads to Hampden for its latest concert with accompaniment-free works from Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, Lake Street Dive and Jukebox the Ghost.
Saddest Day of the Year Party: 7 p.m. at Station North Tool Library. Wallflowers welcome at this Station North downer. Wallow in it with unlimited beer, photo booths, custom name tags and ho-hum snacks.
“Spaces of the Un-Entitled”: 7 p.m. at The Peale Center. Photographer Devin Allen presents a performance within his exhibition, showing “a visual analysis of architecture and its impact on people of impoverished communities.”
American Dream Deferred: 7 p.m. at Red Emma’s. Dr. Frederick W. Gooding, Jr. presents his exploration on the struggle of African-Americans who worked for the federal government.
The Bergamot Quartet: 7:30 p.m. at St. David’s. The First Friday program features contemporary music from Julia Wolfe, Caroline Shaw and more.
Josh Lay: 7:30 p.m. at Motor House. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter heads to Station North for an intimate evening, with special guest London Savoy.
Blood Orange: 8 p.m. at Rams Head Live. The British indie R&B artist makes a stop at Inner Harbor. MIKE opens.
MICA’s 4th Annual Benefit Drag Show: 8 p.m. at BBOx Theatre. Featuring performances from Miss Sue Nami , Chris Jay, Dee Dee Dereon and Venus Festrada. Proceeds benefit LGBTQ scholarships at MICA.
Afro-Colombian Dance Party: 8 p.m. at Creative Alliance. Tribu Baharu, an afro-champeta music group from Bogota, Colombia, gets Highlandtown moving.
Christina Bianco: Woman of a Thousand Voices: Through March 3 at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Part of the BSO’s Superpops series, Bianco mixes diva impressions and her own stylings.
Love Songs: Chris Pumphrey and Friends: 8 p.m. at Church on the Square. Canton’s Music on the Square series features a group fronted by the leader of Baltimore Afrobeat Society, Mondawmen and more.
Jojo Hermann’s Mardi Gras Party: 8 p.m. at Metro Gallery. The Widespread Panic member celebrates Fat Tuesday a bit early, bringing along his band Slim Wednesday.
Save Your Soul: 9 p.m. at Lithuanian Hall. The monthly party featuring soul deep cuts has a guest set from Sheila B. A specialist in girl groups and power pop, she’ll be joined by Baby Alcatraz and Rob Macy.
“Crimes of the Heart”: Through March 24 at Vagabond Players. Beth Henley’s comedy chronicles a family of three sisters.
Saturday, March 2
For the Greater Goods Market: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at R. House. The local market attracts dozens of vendors, and benefits Better on Foot.
The Roundhouse Model Train Show: March 2-3 at the B&O Railroad Museum. The show features thousands of model trains, interactive layouts, tours and more.
BSC Brandy Day: The return of Green is Gold and Singularity #2: noon-8 p.m. at Baltimore Spirits Company. The distiller has two brandies on offer, one apple-flavored, and the other pear.
Maple Sugaring at Lake Roland: March 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. Hike out to the tap trees, see how sap is cooked and taste a variety of syrups.
Yarrow Marmout in Baltimore: 2-4 p.m. at The Peale Center. A panel discussion explores the life of the subject in one of the downtown museum creator’s compelling portraits.
Spaghetti Disco: 5:30 p.m. at Peabody Heights Brewery. The Village Learning Place gets the neighborhood together for food, crafts, dancing and more.
Potables from the Past: 6-9 p.m. at The Peale Center. Enjoy beverages, games and entertainment from the early 19th century.
“Dispersive Archives” exhibition closing: 6-9 p.m. at Waller Gallery. Artist Lawrence Burney, scholar Joy Davis and archivist Jessica Douglas will be on hand to discuss their work.
MammoJam Music Festival: 6:30-11 p.m. at The 8×10. The festival gathers artistic and musical performances to promote breast cancer awareness.
Opening Reception: “Liquidation” / “Oneiric Emblems”: 7-10 p.m. at Current Space. The solo exhibitions from Dre Britton and Vianney Paul feature large-scale sculptures and abstract paintings.
“Women’s History Museum Biennale: Poupées Gonflabes”: 7 p.m. at Springsteen Gallery. The gallery debuts its new location with an installation from Mattie Barringer and Amanda McGowan that make the space look like a semi-abandoned storefront.
George Lopez: The Wall World Tour: 8 p.m. at the Modell Lyric. The Mexican-American comic gets political in his latest routine.
Korean Shemanic Percussion: Noreum Machi: 8-10 p.m. at Creative Alliance. The group specializing in percussion music known as Samul-nori heads to Highlandtown.
Jonathan Van Ness: 7 p.m. at the Hippodrome. The podcast host and “Queer Eye” star stops in Baltimore on the “Road to Beijing.”
Ed Schrader’s Music Beat: 8 p.m. at Metro Gallery. The beloved Baltimore rockers head to Station North, with Param Anand Singh and Infinity Knives + Randi.
Blowout Baltimore: 9 p.m. at The Crown. Check out a new inclusive dance party in Station North.
The Intergalactic Funk Fest: 9 p.m. at the Mercury Theater. Sindler performs live and DJ Marcus G Funk spins the jams. Intergalactic attire is encouraged.
Sunday, March 3
From Script to Screen: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Motor House. Marc and Maria Unger of Amazon Prime’s “Thespian” lead a workshop on creating a DIY episodic series.
“Cry-Baby”: 10 a.m. at the Senator Theatre. The John Waters film is screened for all the happiest juvenile delinquents in Baltimore.
Jazz Piano Series: 2 p.m. at An Die Musik. Acclaimed Baltimore pianist Lafayette Gilchrist offers a Sunday matinee concert and Q&A.
The Ingrid Jensen Quartet: 5-7 p.m. at BMA. The heralded jazz trumpeter plays one of the city’s finest settings.
8th Annual Ryes Up Against Cystic Fibrosis Charitable Gala: 5-8 p.m. at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore. Members of the Baltimore Bartenders’ Guild serve up craft cocktails for a good cause. Attendees can also enjoy food from some of the city’s best restaurants and a silent auction.
Secret Headliner: 7-10 p.m. at Windup Space. Bacchae and Natural Velvet open the Station North show.
Deerhunter: 8 p.m. at Ottobar. The Atlanta indie heroes make a stop in Baltimore following the release of the buzzworthy album, “Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared.”
