Maryland’s seven-day average positive COVID-19 test rate on Friday reached its highest point in more than a month.
Following an upward trend for nearly three weeks now, the average positivity rate for the past seven days currently sits at 1.18%.
The average has more than doubled since falling to a pandemic low of 0.54% on June 28.
State health officials have confirmed a total of 463,848 positive coronavirus cases as of Friday morning, while 3,672,984 Marylanders have tested negative for the virus.
Over the past seven days, Maryland has recorded a total of 868 new cases, an increase of about 0.19%.
Health officials have confirmed the coronavirus-related deaths of 17 Marylanders over the past seven days, bringing the state’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities to 9,561. There are also 217 people whose deaths are suspected to be related to the virus.
Maryland’s coronavirus hospitalizations climbed to 132 on Friday, with 19 more current COVID-19 hospitalizations than this time last week.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday reported that 75.9% of Marylanders age 18 or older have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
A total of 3,487,404 Marylanders are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The number of fully vaccinated Marylanders increased by 41,205 people, or about 1.2%, since July 9.
