Parts of the Baltimore-Washington region could receive 1-2 inches of rain per hour Monday night with the potential of flooding and damaging winds as thunderstorms move through the region, according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through 10 p.m. for areas along I-81 and east of the interstate, including Baltimore.

Most of the storms are likely to pass south of Baltimore, WBAL reported.
Mondayโs storms are expected to end several days of extreme heat. Baltimore City has been under a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert since Thursday, which is scheduled to end after Monday.
