The Lion King, Thursday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, March 2, Hippodrome Theatre. The majestic creatures of the Pride Lands are visiting Baltimore as they share the story of Disney’s “The Lion King” musical live on stage. See Simba, Timon, Pumba, and all your other favorite characters be brought to life with the help of puppetry.
En Plain Air, Thursday, Feb. 13, through 15, C. Grimaldis Gallery. Maryland artist James “Jimmy” Rouse will present a new solo exhibition featuring landscape paintings and prints. Read more in this Baltimore Fishbowl article.
Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto & Stravinsky, Thursday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 15, Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will perform Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto, as well as music by Stravinsky.
Disney on Ice, Thursday, Feb. 13, through Monday, Feb. 17, CFG Bank Arena. Come out to Mickey’s Search Party, where characters from your favorite Disney movies will perform on the ice.
Everything That Never Happened, Thursday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, March 9, Baltimore Center Stage. What if Shakespeare got it all wrong? Written by Sarah Mantell and directed by Jessica Kubzansky, this story lives between The Merchant of Venice and the realities of Jewish history.
Noel Miller, Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15, Magoobys Joke House. Comedian Noel Miller will drop by Magoobys Joke House for four shows across two nights.
Sex at the Zoo, Friday, Feb. 14, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Maryland Zoo. Learn about romance within the animal kingdom and meet some of the Zoo’s animal ambassadors. The event will also feature “Kiss and Tell” lipstick reading, a fine whiskey tasting, live music, photo ops, a silent auction, and more. This is an adults-only event. Sophisticated attire is encouraged.
Zora’s Room: “Love Is, Love Ain’t,” Friday, Feb. 14, 7 to 10 p.m., The Fitzgerald. Join Zora’s Room for an immersive celebration of Black identity, storytelling, and belonging. The evening will feature powerful storytelling from eight local creatives; immersive art, curated work, and augmented reality (AR) experiences that bring history to life in a modern way; and themed mocktails and cocktails, crafted to spark connection.
A Date with John Waters, Friday, Feb. 14, doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m., Baltimore Soundstage. Nothing says romance like a night with John Waters. Join Baltimore’s own pope of trash for an adults-only Valentine’s Day Show.
Dreamseeds, Saturday, Feb. 15, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Baltimore Museum of Art. Artists Sanahara Ama Chandra Brown and Hannah Brancato will teach participants how to make handmade paper from recycled materials. Attendees will also be able to listen to the history and vision of the Dreamseeds project and participate in a community conversation and sound bath meditation.
70s Soul Jam Valentine’s Edition, Saturday, Feb. 15, doors open at 6 p.m., event starts at 7 p.m., Lyric Baltimore. Bring your Valentine for an evening of 70s soul music, including performances by Blue Notes, Manhattans, Delfonics, and The Stylistics.
Maple Magic, Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 23, 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m., Irvine Nature Center. Discover magic in the trees this winter with Irvine naturalists as they guide groups through the woods to identify sap-producing trees, tap them for sap collection, and learn how sap is converted to syrup. Advanced registration is required for these all-ages events.
Maryland Opera presents the “Heritage Series”, Sunday, Feb. 16, 3 p.m., Grace United Methodist Church in North Baltimore. This concert is one of two planned honoring longtime advocates of opera. The Feb. 16 concert honors Drs. Mahin Shamszad and Homayoon Farzadegan. The program for Feb. 16 includes selections from “Il barbiere di Siviglia,” “Carmen,” “Into the Woods,” and more.
