For Steve Kingston, the rebirth of WRNR-FM represents a full circle career moment that might be termed an anticipated surprise. Still, that’s been the plan since he sold the station’s former 103.1 broadcast frequency to the Baltimore-based Peter & John Radio Fellowship for $1.5 million in February 2023.

former dj at wrnr. 1996-2001. There are 2 incarnations of wrnr. One belongs to Jake Einstein and featured true independence, near total jock freedom and the Sound of Surprise. The other is Kingston’s, which was characterized by tight playlists, no meaningful jock freedom and corporate think in the front office. Pretty certain we will not see a return to the former.
