The Lyric Baltimore is pressing play for the first-ever “PlayStation: The Concert” in October.
The concert is a mashup of soundtracks from nine of PlayStation’s most popular games, such as the post-apocalyptic series “The Last of Us,” which was made into an acclaimed television series on HBO; the Norse mythology-inspired “God of War” series, which is being developed into an Amazon Prime Video series; and several others.
The video game company said these games will come to life with “a stunning fusion of multi-layered visuals, immersive surround sound, and an all-star ensemble featuring classical and modern instruments.”

PlayStation announced the U.S. tour dates on Wednesday, with more than 60 cities over 187 days. The one-of-a-kind experience comes to Baltimore on Oct. 16. Tickets go on sale Friday.
The concert also headlines Washington D.C.’s National Theatre on Oct. 17 and 18.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of moments that surprise and delight our fans. Everything from how the music comes together with the visuals, the lighting, and having live musicians perform all this,” said Chuck Doud, PlayStation Studios’ head of music, in a promo video.

The concert has 15 “world-class” soloists as well as video game composers Gustavo Santaolalla, Joris De Man, Ilan Eshkeri and Bear McCreary. It includes the soundtracks of:
- “God of War”
- “The Last of Us”
- “Ghost of Tsushima”
- “Horizon”
- “Astro Bot”
- “Journey”
- “Helldivers 2”
- “Bloodborne”
- “Uncharted”

“What we really wanted to do was take all of this beautiful artistry that have been put into creating these games and interpret that for our live show entertainment,” said Roxy Silverwood, the concert’s art director and creative lead.
The tour made its debut two months ago in Dublin, Ireland.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, video game journalist Kenneth Fox said, “The PlayStation concert had some of the best live visuals I’ve ever seen!”

Maryland is home to many video game developers of its own, such as the Rockville-based Bethesda Game Studios, developer of “The Elder Scrolls” and “Fallout” game series; Sparks-based Firaxis, which developed games within the “X-COM” series and the “Civilization” and “Sid Meier’s” franchises; as well as several indie game developers.
Selections from video game soundtracks of these Maryland-based companies have been featured in concerts by the Baltimore Symphony Gamer Orchestra, including a 2021 concert dedicated to music from Maryland-made video games.
