There is new life in the iconic Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, as it opens its doors to the public for a Holiday Concert on Dec. 18, 2025.

UNITE Mount Vernon, a newly formed nonprofit, acquired the famous โ€œGreen Churchโ€ this summer. UNITEโ€™s mission is to preserve, restore, and explore new purposes for the historic building, including use as a venue for cultural events.

The Holiday Concert will be the first for the church and will feature renowned vocalist and composer Clayton Bryant. Bryant has won Grammy and American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) awards. He has composed for and performed with musical legends around the world, including Elton John, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, and Stevie Wonder. At the Holiday Concert, Bryant will perform his own solo compositions.

โ€œWith its rich acoustics, soaring architecture, and jewel-like stained glass, the sanctuary will set the scene for an unforgettable live performance,โ€ said Jack Danna, president of UNITE Mount Vernon. โ€œAnd we are incredibly fortunate to partner with an artist like Clayton for our first concert. Shout out to Baltimoreโ€™s own Nagrama Productions for putting it all together.โ€

โ€œThis building is a masterpiece, not just of architecture, but of the spirit,โ€ said Gordon Roberts, founder and executive director of Nagrama Productions. โ€œOur goal is to honor its history while giving it new life as a home for music, art, and community. Mount Vernon has always been the cultural heart of Baltimore. This venue can once again become its soul.โ€

  1. On Thursday, December 4th, just before the monument lighting, there’s a tour of the church. It’s $25 and includes other buildings in Mount Vernon. Should be great. rentatour.com
