Charm City Live is happening this Saturday, Sept. 5, a free, one-day festival celebrating the music, culture, and community of Baltimore.
Charm City Live takes place at War Memorial Plaza from noon to 9:00 p.m. this Saturday, and it can attract as many as 12,000 people. To accommodate the crowds, expect road closures, parking restrictions and detours to facilitate traffic and ensure pedestrian safety.
Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, through 2 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, the following changes are in effect:
- Holliday Street closed from Pleasant to Baltimore streets
- Saratoga Street closed from Guilford Avenue to Holliday Street (access to Breco Condominiums will be maintained)
- Lexington Street closed from Guilford Avenue to North Gay Street
- Dickey Place closed from Guilford Avenue to Holliday Street (access to DPW parking area will be maintained from Guilford Avenue only)
- Fayette Street (eastbound and westbound) closed from President Street to Guilford Avenue. The exit ramp to westbound Fayette Street from the southbound Jones Falls Expressway will also be closed during this time.
- Gay Street closed from East Baltimore to East Saratoga streets
Drivers should also be on the lookout for changing traffic patterns and consider alternate routes to avoid potential delays.
These changes will also impact bus service, and temporary MDOT MTA Local Bus diversions will be in effect. Bus riders can visit MDOT MTA’s website for more information.
This is the fifth year for the festival, presented by Mayor Brandon Scott and the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and Entertainment (MOACE). Charm City Live showcases artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, and neighborhoods that make up the threads of Baltimore’s cultural fabric. It is a day of cultural experiences, local flavor, and community pride.
Boyz II Men and Case will be the headlining performers this year, along with lots of other live music, DJs, local vendors, a speakeasy, and a kids’ zone. There will also be a jobs fair for residents to meet with and learn about careers in the city government.
