Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore will herald the expansion of Rash Field Park with a grand opening celebration, ribbon cutting, and free activities along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on Wednesday.
The event will mark the completion of Phase II of the park’s expansion and with it, new opportunities for recreation, wellness, and connection. Mayor Brandon M. Scott, other elected officials, community leaders, and Waterfront Partnership representatives will be there for the ribbon-cutting.
City Council President Zeke Cohen, Councilman Zac Blanchard, Delegates Luke Clippinger and Mark Edelson, Senate President Bill Ferguson will be among the elected officials joining Scott. Reginald Moore, executive director of Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, Tim O’Donald, board chair and Dan Taylor, president of Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore will also be at the ceremony.
Waterfront Partnership shared monthly construction updates on its website showing progress on the 17-month expansion project. It also offered a newsletter for community members interested in staying in touch with the organization and offering a way to give feedback about changes and impact with the organization and the general contractor in charge of construction.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks, attendees will be free to explore the new park and all it has to offer. Free activities will include pickleball, beach volleyball, fitness activities, lawn games, and the chance to explore the park.
The grand opening will kick off several days of outdoor activities programming at Rash Field. These include the summer’s final evening bird walk on Wednesday, a Baltimore by Baltimore Unplugged concert on Thursday at 6 p.m. with C. Jai and Seven, and more wellness, paddling, and recreational activities over the weekend.
The gathering begins around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, with remarks and ribbon cutting beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m. Activities and park exploration should begin around 12:30 p.m. Rash Field Park is located at 201 Key Highway in Baltimore.
