Set on 65 wooded acres in the Baltimore area, Notre Dame Preparatory School’s campus offers a captivating, inspiring, and secure environment for more than 810 middle and high school students. Founded in 1873 on Charles Street—now the site of Notre Dame of Maryland University—NDP relocated to its Hampton Lane home in Towson, Maryland, in 1960 and has grown thoughtfully ever since. From the moment visitors arrive, the campus reflects deep symbolism and tradition: the seven pillars at the entrance serve as a welcoming beacon, the fieldstone façade signifies strength and permanence, and the Gateway marks both the beginning and culmination of each student’s journey, from Orientation to Graduation.

Over the decades, careful expansion and renovation have ensured that NDP’s facilities evolve alongside the needs of its students. In August 2026, the school will open Huffman Commons, a vibrant, multifunctional hub designed to foster connection and enhance daily life. With expanded square footage, a modern kitchen and servery, a student lounge and café, and a refreshed faculty and staff lounge with an outdoor patio, the 12,300-square-foot Commons will serve as a central gathering place that reflects the energy and spirit of the NDP community.

Academic innovation is anchored by the Jane Kroh Satterfield Innovation Wing, which opened in 2020. This 23,500-square-foot space supports interdisciplinary STEAM learning, featuring a two-story fabrication lab, digital studios, art classrooms, and dedicated Humanities spaces where students can collaborate, design, and explore ideas.

The Knott Performing Arts Center supports NDP’s vibrant arts programs, including band, orchestra, drama, dance, and choral studies, while the Irene B. Kirby Wing houses mathematics and social studies. Middle Level students enjoy a dedicated floor with science labs, an art studio, an Innovation Lab, a television broadcast studio, and community gathering spaces.

At the heart of campus sits the Chapel, a treasured spiritual center featuring Italian-carved statuary and a dramatic skylight, where many cherished traditions take place. Beyond the classroom, students benefit from exceptional athletic and outdoor amenities, including turf and grass fields, tennis courts, cross-country trails, an indoor pool, and multiple gyms. Outdoor classrooms, courtyards, and peaceful spaces like the Prayer Garden and Peace Path further enrich campus life.
