
Courtesy of Citybizlist โ Johns Hopkins University ranked 18 among the top 25 colleges with the fastest-growing university endowments, according to a Forbes report.
With a 17.1 percent increase over the past fiscal year, Johns Hopkins beat the likes of MIT, Yale, and Harvard.
Johns Hopkins boasted a $2.6 billion endowment for 2011 compared to $2.2 billion in 2010.
The University of Virginia was tops (28.4 percent, $4.8 billionin 2011, $3.7 billion in 2010), followed by University of Pittsburgh with 24.3 percent, and Purdue University at 22.6 percent.
Forbes said that higher ROI and larger contributions from alumni, along with a recovering economy, were the driving factors.
To compile its list, Forbes analyzed the 32 universities in the U.S. and Canada with endowments over $2 billion based on a report by the National Association of College and University Business Officers. It then ranked them by change in value from fiscal year 2010 to fiscal year 2011.
