I hope many of you were able to take a break from your sudden off-the-grid lifestyle to enjoy one of the many local fireworks displays presented last night. (We stayed in, but don’t worry–the people from the apartment downstairs stomped around on our roof setting off fireworks all night, so we were set.)
No matter where you chose to enjoy some benign explosions, chances are the experience was nothing like the show San Diegans got last night. Due to a technical malfunction, every single firework in that city’s Fourth of July show was ignited at the same instant. The result lasted only 15 seconds, but it’s quite an amazing sight.
