Tugboat captain Tony Roman took the above photo with his phone as he and his boat were leaving Dundalk Marine Terminal some weeks ago. The amazing pic of what looked to Roman like a “sideways tornado” made its way around the Internet, through various cloud and weather-themed forums.
Roman has taken many weather shots over his 30 years working in Baltimore-area waters. “We get all four different seasons and we get a lot of pictures that yourself and other people can’t get because we’re out when the bad storms are coming in,” Roman told WJZ. “Thank God for the smart phones because we get better shots now.”
