Over the next year, the mayor will sit down at various Baltimore Starbucks for “town hall meetings.” The first meeting was already held on Tuesday, but five more clatches are planned for the near future.
Aside from chatting about the O’s and her fab wardrobe, the mayor is looking to use the latte link-ups
to encourage local business owners to hire younger workers. According to the Aspen Institute, Baltimore currently has 15,931 people aged 18-24 who aren’t in school or working a job. That’s…a lot.
“If we are serious about preparing our young people for the world of employment, we must ensure that we are doing our part to offer them opportunities that will allow them to grow,” the mayor said in a statement.
While we’re at it, let’s hope the sessions answer another question the people are asking: What’s SRB’s coffee order?
