Ben Carson skipped over us to announce his candidacy in Detroit today, but Baltimore could soon be the scene of a presidential candidacy announcement anyway. If Martin Oโ€™Malley runs for president, he will announce his candidacy in Baltimore.

โ€œI wouldnโ€™t think about announcing any place else,โ€ the former mayor and governor told Meet the Press host Chuck Todd on Sunday. โ€œOur story is not over. We are not defeated as a city, and we are not about to throw in the towel on our country.โ€

Oโ€™Malley has faced questions and face-to-face criticism about his administrationโ€™s zero-tolerance policing policy in the wake of last weekโ€™s unrest. Todd once again asked him about the criticism, questioning Oโ€™Malley about whether he could still run on his Baltimore record.

I did not dedicate my life to making Baltimore a safer and more just place because it was easy, and I am more inclined and more deeply motivated now to address whatโ€™s wrong with our country and what needs to be healed and what needs to be fixed,โ€ Oโ€™Malley said.

There were rumblings that committed suicide. But it sounds like Oโ€™Malleyโ€™s still running, no?
