A former football star at Dunbar High School was Baltimoreโ€™s latest homicide victim.

Around 6 p.m. Thursday, JaQuan Holt was found in the 4000 block of Belwood Avenue in Northeast Baltimore, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to Hopkins Bayview, where he later died. Police did not release info on suspects, and said they are still working to solve the case.

The Baltimore Sun talked to Holtโ€™s former coach Lawrence Smith, who called him โ€œa great kid,โ€ and said he was an honor student at college in California. Holt played running back for the poets, graduating in 2013.

As news spread #RIPQuan trended on local Twitter. Councilman Brandon Scott called the homicide โ€œanother act of cowardly violence.โ€ The city is close to recording 300 homicides for the year.
