Hey, Baltimore: Want to Learn Something New?

I’ve always thought it was a shame that it’s so hard to, well, learn things once you’re out of school. This desire for life-long learning is exactly what spurred a group of Baltimoreans to start Mesh Baltimore, a sort of skillshare club where you can learn everything from how to homebrew beer to how to handcraft toys for toddlers — among other things. There are plenty of Baltimoreans with passionate hobbies or ridiculous skills; why not give them a platform so they can teach their friends and neighbors about finding deals at auctions, or decoding Byzantine iconography?
“Our ever-changing array of classes – suggested and taught by local people – offers inexpensive and lively ways to satisfy learners’ curiosity and to develop skills they never knew they had (but always yearned for!),” according to the group’s mission statement. The method behind their first event is a simple one:  once you register and pay the $20 fee, you can sign up for 3 or the 12 classes that will be held at this first-ever SkillShare, which is slated for November 3 from 1-4 p.m.

Once the momentum builds, Mesh hopes to offer more extensive classes along the same lines. Read more about the event (or register for the SkillShare) here.
