Annapolis Police issued an unusual warning on Monday night, saying clowns were at large.
The warning said children spotted people in facepaint dressed up as clowns in various neighborhood at night. The sightings supposedly started as early as Thursday. Still, police maintained the reports were unconfirmed. It appears creepy clown sightings are spreading. In Alabama, the threat even led schools to be put on lockdown. But when it came to verifying the report, one key line stood out.
โIt appears that only children have seen the person(s) in the clown costume,โ the warning stated.
As it turned out, the children did not see the clowns. Annapolis kids admitted to making up the story, police said Tuesday.

While itโs one less thing to worry about, creepy clowns are pretty terrifying. So thanks for that mental image, kids.
