Calling all artists! This is an invitation for creatives who would like to show their work in 2027-2028 in Howard County Arts Council (HoCo Arts) galleries to submit a general exhibit application by Oct. 1, 2025.

The HoCo Arts Exhibits Committee meets every quarter to review applications and choose artists for the exhibit space. Artists who are 18 or older are encouraged to apply either individually or as a group. They can work in all media and styles, including time-based and installation art. The committee will determine how the artists will be paired or grouped and welcomes proposals from curators and organizations.

HoCo Arts is moving to the former circuit courthouse in Historic Ellicott City this fall. Their new home will have new galleries with more than 1930 square feet of exhibit space. They have also invited artists to apply for the Resident Studio Artist Program in the new Historic Ellicott City location. That residency application is due on Sept. 15, 2025.

The council also manages two galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts, which has more than 21,000 square feet of exhibit space.

The councilโ€™s gallery program was established to increase access of the public to visual arts and give local artists a venue for their work. The program also exhibits the work of regional and national artists in this professional space. HoCo Arts offers a broad spectrum of arts in all media from emerging and established artists. These include 11โ€“12 exhibits per year ranging in size, number of participating artists, juried shows, curated, and community shows.

Here are the detailed entry guidelines for submissions, which are due Oct. 1, 2025. Interested artists can also email exhibits@hocoarts.org .
