Hip-hop may be universal, but the lyrics often skew toward the older set. So a pair of Baltimore rap pros are looking to offer something that can kids can bounce along to, without the inevitable scarring.
According to Cool Progeny, emcee Jamaal “Black Root” Collier and beat boxer Max Bent are set to debut Baby Beats on Thursday (July 30). The first performance is at the family-targeted time of 10:30 a.m.
Collier performed at a similar kids’ hip-hop event called Boogie Babies event in DC, and 400 people came out. He tells Cool Progeny that he quickly realized Baltimore’s options were lacking in that department.
“Our focus is on engaging all audiences to move, play, have fun be entertained and learn at the same time,” he said.
