tuesday night

The Baltimore Improv Group’s 8th annual “Baltimore Improv Festival” starts tonight at 7 p.m. and runs though Sunday, August 3 at the Theatre Project at 45 W. Preston Street.

Performances from some of the best improv comedy troupes from around the region highlight the festival – and many of those same troupes also offer improv workshops during the weekend.

The festival will present a wide range of improvised comedy performances, all sharing the same hilarious characteristic: The actors invent environments, outrageous characters and fun plots from audience suggestions. There is no script, so anything can happen!

Highlights include:
–    Musical improv comedy troupes, hilarious duos, an entirely silent duo set (Imp), a show featuring a Philly improviser and a unsuspecting audience member (Matt &)….

…And many, many other great performances by troupes from NYC, Austin, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Connecticut, and around the Mid-Atlantic region (including all the performance troupes from BIG)!

Show tickets are $10-$15, and multi-show ticket pricing is available. All workshops are on Saturday and Sunday and cost $35. For details on show times and prices, as well as workshop information, check out

The Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) is a 501(3)(c) non-profit group dedicated to advancing the art of improvisational theater in the greater Baltimore area through public performances and classes. WYPR calls the Baltimore Improv Group “the Second City of Charm City.”  This high-energy improv group has been bringing comedy and drama to sold-out stages around town since 2004.
