The Baltimore Improv Group is getting set for its 13th season of on-the-spot comedy. This year, there will also be a new spot involved.
After ending its time at the Mercury Theater in Station North, BIG is moving to the Single Carrot Theatre in Remington to begin its teen years. The company has a Sept. 9-17 engagement at the Spotlighters Theatre, but its announcement said a kickoff weekend for Single Carrot is being planned for October.
There’s also a new head funnyperson in charge. Terry Withers was named managing director of BIG. He’s heading to Baltimore from New York, where he worked at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. He worked in sales, as a teacher and as a performer there.
“Terry brings a dynamic background which we feel will be a tremendous asset to the organization as we work to enhance the quality of, participation in, and appreciation for improvised theatre in the Baltimore region,” the BIG announcement states.
