Baltimore Police are investigating swastikas that were spray-painted on pavement in front of a home in northwest Baltimore’s Glen neighborhood, according to a police report.

Police responded to a call on Wednesday afternoon to the 3900 block of Fordham Drive after an anonymous caller reported a hate crime. The drawings, accompanied by a derogatory word, appeared to be failed attempts of the swastika symbol but one was drawn in the correct pattern, the report said.

A resident, whom police spoke to, said she noticed the symbol and sent photos to her community group chat. Another resident responded that she saw the symbol on Tuesday, but she did not call law enforcement because she was driving and not sure if she saw the correct symbol.

Baltimore City Councilman Isaac “Yitzy” Schleifer, who represents District 5, including the Glen neighborhood, posted photos of the graffiti on the social media platform X.

“This hate has no place in Baltimore or anywhere else,” Schleifer said in his post.

Police searched the area and did not find evidence of other symbols, spray bottles or cameras, but are continuing to investigate the incident.

The Department of Public Works removed the swastika symbols Thursday afternoon.
