The Self in Writing: A Reading and Conversation Between Authors, Thursday, April 10, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Bird in Hand. Writers Danielle Ariano, Pantea Amin Tofangchi, and Judith Krummeck will read from their works and consider questions such as, “How much of the author’s “I” finds its way into writing?” and “Is the novelist omniscient, or is she inevitably writing herself into the story?”

How to Transcend a Happy Marriage, Friday, April 11, through Sunday, April 13, Baltimore Theatre Project. After hearing stories at a dinner party about a younger polyamorous woman who hunts her own meat, George and her husband invited the woman and her two live-in boyfriends to a New Year’s Eve party. The events that ensue change George and her husband’s lives forever. Iron Crow Theatre presents this production, by playwright Sarah Ruhl, at the Baltimore Theatre Project. The production premieres April 11 and runs through April 27.

114th My Lady’s Manor Steeplechase Races, Saturday, April 12, gates 10 a.m., first race 1:30 p.m., Jarrettsville Pike (MD 146) at Pocock Road in Monkton, Maryland. Since 1909, this exciting day of equestrian sport has marked the beginning of spring in the Harford County countryside. The afternoon includes four steeplechase races, live bluegrass music from the Mayo Family Band, horse-themed merchandise tents, and food trucks.
