Several Baltimore City streets will be closed this weekend to accommodate various community events.
Baltimore City Department of Transportation officials are advising motorists to be especially careful of pedestrians and plan ahead to account for closures and delays.
Charles Street Promenade
The Charles Street Promenade event returns this weekend, allowing pedestrians to shop, dine, and walk along Charles Street without worrying about car traffic.
As such, streets in the area will be closed on Saturday, June 8, from about 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The affected roadways include:
- N. Charles Street from Saratoga Street and Mt. Royal Avenue (closed 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
- N. Charles Street from Mt. Royal Avenue to North Avenue
- N. Charles Street at Pleasant Street
- N. Charles Street at North Alley
- N. Charles Street at Hamilton Street
- N. Charles Street at Mount Vernon Place (no two-way traffic)
- N. Charles Street at Read Street
- N. Charles Street at Eager Street
- N. Charles Street at Biddle Street
- N. Charles Street at Preston Street
Parking restrictions will be in place Saturday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on both sides of North Charles Street from Saratoga Street to North Avenue.
The Charm City Circulator will operate its regular service hours with detours and stop closures during the Charles Street Promenade event. Riders can find detour information on the Passio Go! App.
St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival
Portions of roadways in Baltimoreโs Greektown neighborhood have been closed for the St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival and will remain closed until 10 a.m. Monday, June 10. Those roads include:
- Ponca Street between Foster and Fait Avenues
- Foster Avenue between Ponca Street and Quail Avenue
Baltimore Farmersโ Market
The Baltimore Farmersโ Market will continue this Sunday, June 9, under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay streets.
As such, the following streets and lanes will be closed from about 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday:
- Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
- Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
- Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway
Run Up To Juneteenth 5K & 1M Walk
The Run Up to Juneteenth 5K and 1M Walk on Sunday will begin and end at West Covington Park, running from about 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The route for the 5K is:
- Start in the City Garage / West Covington Park parking lot
- Turn right onto South Hanover Street to cross the Hanover Street Bridge
- Turn right onto Waterview Avenue in the westbound traffic laneย
- Turn right onto the Middle Branch Park pathway to loop along the waterfront
- Turn left onto the westbound lane of Waterview Avenueย
- Turn left onto Hanover Street
- The 5K will finish inside West Covington Park.
The 1-Mile Fun Walk course will travel under the Hanover Street Bridge using the park pathway and sidewalks.
During the 5K and 1M events, the following lanes will be closed from about 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday:
- Hanover Street double lane closures between Cromwell Street and Waterview Avenue
- Waterview Avenue partial lane closure between Hanover Street and Erik Street
Additional Closures:
On Saturday, June 8, the following lanes will be closed for repair activities at these approximate times:
- Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 southbound right lane closures between Cold Spring Lane and the 28th Street ramp 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (guard rail repairs)
- Hilton Parkway northbound and southbound right lane closures between North Avenue and Hilton Street 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (cleaning and repair activities)

I lived in Greek Town for 20 years and I forgot about the festival this week. The good old days are over so in moving forward we as a society have to pass on the traditional values of culture. I miss everyone in Greek Town
