Morgan State University lifted a โ€œshelter in placeโ€ warning at about 2 p.m. Tuesday after completing a search of all buildings and others spaces.

The campus had been in lockdown status beginning at around 7:30 a.m, as a series of threats were received at historically black colleges and universities across the nation on the first day of Black History Month.

Coppin State University also posted their own โ€œshelter in placeโ€ warning Tuesday on the schoolโ€™s website, citing an unspecified โ€œcampus emergency.โ€

Baltimore Sun on Coppin State: The Baltimore Sun reported that Coppin State University confirmed a bomb threat was the source of their campus emergency.

Morgan State and Coppin State universities have both shifted to virtual learning on Tuesday as emergency personnel evaluate conditions.

The threats are similar to one received at several mid-Atlantic HBCUs and others throughout the country, and marks the second day of bomb threats at these institutions.

Morgan student newspaper on scope of threats: Bomb threats were sent to at least six HBCUs on Monday, and to at least 11 HBCUs on Tuesday. At least eight HBCUs received bomb threats on Jan. 5, reported The Spokesman, Morgan State Universityโ€™s student newspaper.

Tuesday also marks the start of Black History Month.

WJZ-TV on Bowie State: On Monday, Bowie State University was in lockdown. The university community was given the โ€œall clearโ€ Monday afternoon, WJZ reported.

7News on Howard University7News in Washington is reporting that Howard University received a bomb threat overnight, which was the third such threat received by the school this year.

NBC News on FBI investigation: NBC News reported that the FBI said it will investigate the series of bomb threats.
