Boys in the bubble are cool again, as long as it involves games. Over the summer, a bubble soccer league blew into the field outside Du Burns Arena. This fall, Bubbleball MD is bringing another league to Patterson Park.

While the sight of players wearing a plastic bubble over their upper body might seem like something out of a sci-fi novel, things come into focus when you see all the bouncing. The players bounce off of each other, roll on the ground and just generally enjoy the freedom that comes with a feeling-free collision.

Bubbleball cofounder Jon Millhausen calls the game a combination of โ€œdodgeball, sumo wrestling, and soccer.โ€ In addition to leagues, the company has also been doing rentals for parties and office team-building events.

The fall leagues will be 5-on-5, and are scheduled to be held on the Utz Turf Field near Linwood Ave. starting Sept. 30. Check out the website for more info about registration.
