
More than 24,000 Marylanders ages 5-11 have received their first coronavirus vaccine dose since becoming eligible last week.
The Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard does not report vaccine doses within the specific newly-eligible age range. But state officials have reported that a total of 24,507 individuals ages 0-9 have received their first dose to date.
Of the initial doses of coronavirus vaccines, 62.049% of Marylanders received both doses of a two-dose vaccine and 5.206% received a single-dose vaccine.
There have been 573,834 booster shots administered in Maryland, an increase of 104,450 shots since this time last week.
Maryland has confirmed a total of 569,823 positive cases and 10,798 deaths related to coronavirus to date.
Since last Friday, the state’s confirmed COVID-19 cases have increased by 5,259 and confirmed coronavirus-related deaths have risen by 73.
Maryland has also recorded a total of 232 deaths suspected to be related to COVID-19.
The state’s seven-day average percentage of positive tests currently sits at 3.26%. This time last week, the average was 2.92%.
Currently, 509 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, including 507 in acute care and two in intensive care.
Of those in acute care for COVID-19, 382 are adults and zero are children.
Of the state’s COVID-19 patients in intensive care, 125 are adults and two are children.
All of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions are experiencing substantial (14 jurisdictions) or high (10 jurisdictions) levels of coronavirus transmission, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
