Several downtown Baltimore buildings, including government offices and a courthouse, have closed Friday after losing heat.

Baltimore City Hall; the Abel Wolman Municipal Building, which houses various city services; and the Cummings Courthouse are among the impacted buildings that closed as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Energy operator Vicinity Energy was conducting emergency repair work that caused the loss of heat to buildings in the downtown area. The company, which manages the steam infrastructure to heat these buildings, is working to restore heat to the affected buildings.

Until crews complete the repairs and restore heat, all in-person city services located in these buildings will be unavailable. This includes in-person billing, revenue collection, and water system customer service.

In the meantime, residents can pay bills and access other city services online.

The addresses impacted by the heat-related closures are:

  • 210 Guilford Ave.
  • 200 N. Holliday St. (Abel Wolman Municipal Building)
  • 220 E. Lexington St.
  • 212 E. Lexington St.
  • 200 E. Lexington St.
  • 111 N. Calvert St. (Cummings Courthouse)
  • 100 N. Holliday St. (Baltimore City Hall)

The right lane is closed along Guilford Avenue between Lexington and East Fayette streets. City officials are recommending that motorists download the Waze.com app for live information about road closures and detours.
