Want to experience a Taiwanese-style night market right here in Baltimore?
The Ekiben Night Market will return for its second year – this time in a new location along the city’s waterfront.
Last year, the first Ekiben Night Market was held at Ekiben’s Hampden location.
This year’s market will take place Saturday, Aug. 23, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 1500 Thames St. along the Fells Point waterfront. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Ekiben, which started as a food cart in the waterfront neighborhood in 2014.
Tickets are $27.50 for general admission, including admission to the market and one free drink. VIP ticket holders ($137.50) will be granted admission to the market one-and-a-half hours early at 2:30 p.m., exclusive merch, two free drink tickets, and a $20 Ekiben gift card.
Attendees will be able to travel stall to stall and taste a wide array of sweet and savory foods and drinks.
More than 40 restaurants, artists, and makers from the DMV region and beyond will participate in this year’s event.
Some of featured chefs and talent will be familiar faces from Baltimore, including Clavel’s Carlos Raba, The Urban Oyster’s Jasmine Norton, Alma Cocina Latina’s Héctor Romero, Crust by Mack’s Amanda Mack, La Cuchara’s Ben Lefenfeld, and Rooted Rotisserie’s Joe Burton. The Café Dear Leon bakery, Blacksauce Kitchen biscuit and smoked meats pop-up, and Vietnamese restaurant Pho Bac, all located in Baltimore, will also have presences at the market.
Additionally, the event will feature Erik Bruner‑Yang (Maketto and Bar Providencia in D.C.); Peter Serpico (Serpico in Philadelphia); Javier Fernandez (Kuya Ja’s in Rockville); Eric Sze (886 & Wenwen in New York City); Eric Huang (Pecking House in New York City); Helen Nguyen (Saigon Social in New York City); Chance Anies (Tabachoy in Philadelphia); Trigg Brown (Win Son in Brooklyn); Johnny Spero (Reverie in D.C.); Jae Lee (Nowon in New York City and Boston); and Rosie Nguyen (Rose Ave Bakery in D.C.).
In addition to the culinary professionals, the market will also feature artists and makers, including B’s Studio, Koobta, Pangea Printing Co., Promote Peace, TheGroovyVandal, WorKarina.
Goshdang Music, Plant Dad, Sadia, Softboiled, Therran Dennis, and TrapCellist will provide musical entertainment.
