After closing earlier this month, the former AMC movie theater in Churchville will reopen later this year as a Flagship Premium Cinemas location.

Flagship first opened a theater at the 2408 Churchville Road location more than 20 years ago. Now, it is returning to the same Harford County venue to open the company’s newest theater by this fall.

“Cinema is not dead! We are looking forward to not only filling a cinematic void for the community but offering a luxury and family-friendly theater experience for the area,” said Paul Wenger, president of Flagship Premium Cinemas, in a statement. “Flagship Cinemas is bringing back the magic of the movies to this community and will provide an unforgettable entertainment destination for movie lovers of all ages. Our company opened this facility back in 2001, and we enjoyed a wonderful reputation in the area for over a decade. We’ve come full circle with our return, and we have a great surprise in store for this Churchville theater.”

Flagship offers “plush power reclining and heated seating, premium food and beverage options,” and other amenities, according to a news release.

For Harford County movie-goers wanting to watch their favorite flicks on the big screen before the Churchville theater reopens, the county’s next closest movie theaters are the Horizon Cinemas locations in Aberdeen (1012 Beards Hill Road) and Fallston (2315 Belair Road).

AMC closed its Churchville location on April 7. The company’s next closest location is in White Marsh (8141 Honeygo Blvd.).
