Another sign that the medical marijuana industry is taking a long time to get going in Maryland: scammers are already setting up.

According to Merry Jane, there have already been cases of people selling fake patient ID cards No ID cards have been distributed, and will be issued via state registry. Businesses have also been caught touting โ€œpre-approvalโ€ to dole out medical marijuana, which doesnโ€™t exist. About 20 cases were reported in all.

While Maryland has been the slowest state in the country to set up medical marijuana, the services arenโ€™t real. Medical marijuana probably wonโ€™t available until late 2017.
