In southern India, elephants are captured, tortured, and even blinded for use in religious and cultural festivals. The practice, fueled by profit, greed and tourism, has continued for thousands of years.

The film is already creating change in India. The evidence it has uncovered is being examined by the Supreme Court of India in a case against elephant owners and brokers, who make as much as $600,000 per year renting elephants for profit.

The Baltimore benefit screening will support distribution of the film in India so that increased public pressure can be brought against government and temple officials.

Director and producer Sangita Iyer will be on hand to answer questions after the film.

Tickets range from $10 to $75 for the Director’s VIP reception and are available here and at the door.
