The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation, will present nationally-known Grammy Award-winning artists, Steep Canyon Rangers, at “An Evening Bluegrass Festival” on Thursday evening, July 23, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at Oregon Ridge. Tim & Savannah Finch with Eastman String Band, and Bob Perilla’s Big Hillbilly Band will also perform.
Tickets are $30 in advance and can be purchased online at http://coloncancerfoundation.tix.com. Tickets will also be for sale at the gate for $35. All attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on during the concert. Open pit BBQ, food and adult beverages will be available for purchase and parking is free. Concert goers are welcome to bring their own picnic, as well.
An Evening Bluegrass Festival will support the efforts of Susie’s Cause, as the foundation is known, to conquer colon cancer and to support colorectal cancer research efforts the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
Steep Canyon Rangers won a Grammy Award in 2013 for Best Bluegrass Album for the band’s album, Nobody Knows You. The band plays regularly with legendary comedian and bluegrass enthusiast, Steve Martin.
An Evening Bluegrass Festival is in honor and memory of Charlotte Bohn, who had a passion for Bluegrass music. Charlotte was a Susie’s Cause board member, who sadly lost her battle to colorectal cancer leaving behind two small children, a husband and loving family.
The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation, Inc. (“Susie’s Cause”) has worked to establish itself as the national voice for the prevention, early screening and detection, and aggressive therapeutic intervention for colorectal cancer. The foundation also funds research and, most recently, raised and donated $500,000 to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins for a vaccine to deter the reoccurrence of colon cancer and prevent colorectal cancer in the future. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Baltimore, Susie’s Cause has current affiliates in California and North Carolina with expansion planned by the end of this year.
