What: In honor of Veteransโ Day, Hot House is featuring a home on Navy Road in Ruxton. Army Road is just around the corner, just in case you were wondering! This split-level house incorporates so many features that makes a warm and comfortable house, perfect for your new life on this lovely, wooded lot.
This houseโs layout is not the traditional center-hall colonial, but open spaces making a flexible layout for a modern family. I am pretty good spatially, but I really had a hard time figuring out how this house worked. It was only by matching up the staircases on the plans that I got it to work. You basically need to give the image of the house a quarter-turn to make it work!

That said, what looks like the addition to the left of the house, really contains the main rooms โ living, dining, and bed rooms, plus the kitchen. What looks like the main part is the garage, some living space and the primary suite on the second floor. The two remaining bedrooms are on the ground floor, where the ground drops off.

The main gathering area on the first floor is the bright and sunny kitchen with its JennAir and GE Cafรฉ appliances. The adjacent dining and living rooms flow into the kitchen and feature a ceiling height stone, woodburning fireplace. There is an en-suite bedroom/office/library on the first floor.

The second floor features the primary suite with a walk-in closet, spa bathroom with radiant heat floors, and custom built-in shelving. The ground level has additional living space with a wet bar and wood-burning fireplace. It also has two additional bedrooms and a full bath, along with a laundry room. A covered patio runs along the side.

Where: Navy Road is located between Charles Street and Bellona Avenue, off Malvern Avenue, which is across from the entrance to GBMC. It is a quick drive into Towson and to Kenilworth Mall with its Trader Joeโs and other shops and restaurants, and to Loyola High School. The Beltway is close, convenient to driving into the city, or everywhere else!

Final Appraisal: This house is casual and comfortable with a lot of thought put into the layout with numerous gathering areas, as well as private areas for that elusive โaloneโ time. The listing for the house is here.
