
The Ivy is delighted to welcome two wonderful poets, Ryan Artes and Zorina Exie Frey, to our back patio for a reading and conversation celebrating Ryan’s poetry collection, After Midnight, on Thursday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m.
We will have copies of Ryan’s book for sale in the shop, as well as at the event.

Ryan Jafar Artes is an adoptee, activist, memoirist, poet, and self-published author. Their work includes After Midnight and Friendship Zine, with writing appearing in Stoked Words: An Anthology of Queer Poetry, the Prometheus Unbound 2021 anthology, and the first BIPOC Writing Community anthology. They host two monthly events for adoptees only: The Adoptee Open Mic and Let’s Thrive Together, a generative writing workshop. Ryan is pursuing a self created and designed DIY MFA. They participate actively in three weekly writing communities: BIPOC Writing Party, Disability Creativity Workshop, and The World We Want, occasionally leading workshops in these spaces.
Zorina Exie Frey is an essayist, screenwriter, spoken word poet, publishing content writer, and digital designer. Her writings are featured in Shondaland, Shoutout Miami, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Iโm Speaking Now, The American Journal of Poetry, and Pen in Hand Journal. Zorina is an adjunct English Instructor for Converse University and one of the facilitators for Writing Class Radio. She is also Editor-in-Chief for 45 Magazine Literary Journal and seasonal the Blog Editor for South 85 Journal.
