Maryland confirmed its first coronavirus-related death of a child between 0-9 years old on Monday, state data show.

Since Sunday, the state reported 16 deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of fatal cases to 4,486. There are also 155 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

Of the Marylanders who have been confirmed to have died from coronavirus, one was 0-9 years old; three were 10-19 years old; 26 were 20-29 years old; 53 were 30-39 years old; 139 were 40-49 years old; 361 were 50-59 years old; 717 were 60-69 years old; 1,126 were 70-79 years old; and 2,058 were 80 years or older.

At least 198,370 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,146,539 have tested negative as of Monday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 1,923, an increase of about 0.98%.

Maryland has completed 4,429,749 coronavirus tests to date, with 27,350 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

On average, 6.86% of Maryland’s coronavirus tests over the last seven days came back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 7.25% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 6.62% for Marylanders older than 35.

There are currently 1,527 Marylanders hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 1,183 who are in acute care and 344 who are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients climbed by 81 while the number of intensive care patients declined by 15, marking a net increase of 66 more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Sunday.

The state has hospitalized a total of 21,051 people with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

As of 10 a.m. Monday, there have been 41,297 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 33,400 in Montgomery County; 29,315 in Baltimore County; 24,521 in Baltimore City; 16,742 in Anne Arundel County; 8,155 in Howard County; 6,871 in Frederick County; 6,099 in Harford County; 4,391 in Charles County; 4,281 in Washington County; 3,440 in Wicomico County; 3,327 in Carroll County; 3,168 in Allegany County; 2,153 in St. Mary’s County; 2,109 in Cecil County; 1,598 in Calvert County; 1,483 in Worcester County; 1,097 in Queen Anne’s County; 1,011 in Dorchester County; 972 in Caroline County; 918 in Somerset County; 819 in Talbot County; 755 in Garrett County; and 448 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for coronavirus, 8,278 are people age 9 or younger; 17,674 are people ages 10-19; 37,772 are people ages 20-29; 35,412 are people ages 30-39; 31,149 are people ages 40-49; 29,273 are people ages 50-59; 19,367 are people ages 60-69; 11,205 are people ages 70-79; and 8,240 are people age 80 or older.

The state has identified 104,457 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 93,913 as male.

Of Maryland’s confirmed coronavirus cases, 59,359 are Black, 37,766 are Hispanic, 60,009 are white, 3,937 are Asian, 9,043 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 28,256.

Nationwide, there have been at least 13,386,255 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 266,895 deaths and 5,065,030 recoveries. The U.S. has conducted more than 191.1 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
