
Maryland has reported more than 2,000 new coronavirus cases per day for 16 of the past 23 days after not reaching that mark at all before November.
The state first crossed the 2,000-case mark on Nov. 14 with 2,321 new cases reported that day, after reporting fewer than 2,000 new cases each day for the first eight months of the pandemic.
At least 217,329 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,240,700 have tested negative as of Monday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland’s coronavirus caseload rose by 2,302, an increase of 1.07%.
The state reported 44,956 test results on Monday, with a total of 4,730,432 COVID-19 tests completed to date.
An average of 7.89% of Maryland’s coronavirus tests over the last seven days have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 8.32% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 7.65% for Marylanders older than 35.
Currently, 1,561 Marylanders are hospitalized with coronavirus, including 1,173 are in acute care and 388 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients fell by 10 while the number of intensive care patients declined by five, marking a net decrease of 15 fewer people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Sunday.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 22,259 COVID-19 patients to date.
A total of 4,705 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with 20 additional deaths reported since Sunday. There are also 160 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, there have been 44,402 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 36,449 in Montgomery County; 31,708 in Baltimore County; 26,419 in Baltimore City; 18,429 in Anne Arundel County; 8,912 in Howard County; 7,852 in Frederick County; 6,634 in Harford County; 5,111 in Washington County; 4,752 in Charles County; 4,101 in Allegany County; 3,728 in Carroll County; 3,681 in Wicomico County; 2,435 in Cecil County; 2,419 in St. Mary’s County; 1,746 in Calvert County; 1,595 in Worcester County; 1,222 in Queen Anne’s County; 1,183 in Somerset County; 1,085 in Dorchester County; 1,065 in Caroline County; 999 in Garrett County; 892 in Talbot County; and 510 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 9,253 are people age 9 or younger; 19,382 are people ages 10-19; 41,215 are people ages 20-29; 38,557 are people ages 30-39; 33,992 are people ages 40-49; 32,247 are people ages 50-59; 21,349 are people ages 60-69; 12,413 are people ages 70-79; and 8,921 are people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 114,348 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 102,981 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 64,402 are Black, 40,275 are Hispanic, 67,175 are white, 4,341 are Asian, 9,897 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 31,239.
Nationwide, there have been at least 14,764,898 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 282,348 deaths and 5,624,444 recoveries. The U.S. has conducted more than 204 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
